Hamburg is one of Europe’s most important cruise ports, and ships depart from three very different terminals. Depending on your cruise line, you will start in Steinwerder, HafenCity, or Altona. We know each of these terminals precisely and will take you directly to the correct one with our shuttle.
Cruise Center Steinwerder
Steinwerder Peninsula, in Hamburg’s working port
The Cruise Center Steinwerder is Hamburg’s largest cruise terminal and was opened in 2015 in the middle of the working port, on the Steinwerder Peninsula south of the Elbe. This is where the very large ships dock, for which there is no space at the other terminals. Cruise lines such as AIDA Cruises and MSC Cruises have their most modern and longest ships start and end in Steinwerder, including the large AIDA ships and the MSC fleet, which are among the largest cruise ships to call at Hamburg.
Because the terminal is located in the middle of the industrial port and is not within walking distance of the city center, reliable arrival and secure parking are particularly important here. We will take you directly to the terminal building with our shuttle, so you don’t have to search through the port area with your luggage. After your return, the shuttle will be ready for you and will take you back to your car.
Cruise Center HafenCity
Überseequartier, in the heart of HafenCity
The Cruise Center HafenCity is the newest of the three terminals and was opened in a completely new form in spring 2025. It is located in the heart of HafenCity, directly in the newly built Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, the large new urban district with shops, hotels, and restaurants. From here, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the Elbphilharmonie and the Speicherstadt, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2015. Hardly any terminal in Europe is so centrally located and so integrated into the city.
The new terminal has two berths measuring 345 and 230 meters in length and is designed for operation with shore power, so ships can be supplied in a more environmentally friendly way while docked. For you as a guest, that means: you start your journey in a modern building in one of the city’s most beautiful locations. We’ll take you there directly by shuttle, so you don’t have to worry about finding a parking space in the busy Überseequartier.
Cruise Center Altona
Van-der-Smissen-Straße, Altona, right by Dockland
The Cruise Center Altona began operations in 2011 and is located on Van-der-Smissen-Straße in the Altona district, right next to the striking Dockland building with its famous rooftop terrace. The terminal accommodates ships up to approximately 300 meters in length, including ships from AIDA and Costa. Through the large glass front, travelers have a wide view over the Hamburg harbor even during check-in.
Altona is closer to the city center than Steinwerder, but it is correspondingly busy on travel days, and parking spaces directly at the terminal are scarce and expensive. Therefore, it is also worthwhile here to reserve your car with us in advance and be conveniently driven there. We know the access roads around Große Elbstraße and will get you to your ship on time and without parking stress.
