Answers to the most common questions about parking at Hamburg Airport and the cruise terminals.
Guide
Travel well-prepared, from the airport to the cruise terminal
The same questions keep coming up about traveling from Hamburg. Here we have answered the most important ones in detail for you, so you can start relaxed and without time pressure.
Hamburg Airport
How early should you be at Hamburg Airport?
For flights within Germany and Europe, you should be at Hamburg Airport about two hours before departure. For long-haul flights and flights to countries outside Europe, it’s better to plan three hours, as security checks take longer and additional documents are often checked.
The reason for this lead time is not the journey to the airport, but what comes after: Check-in counters usually close 30 to 45 minutes before departure, and especially in the mornings between six and nine o’clock, there can be longer waiting times at security control in Hamburg. Those who arrive just in time will unnecessarily come under pressure.
Therefore, we recommend planning your parking so that you arrive relaxed. If you drop off your car with us the evening before or early in the morning and let the shuttle take you directly to the terminal, you save yourself the search for a parking space and have enough buffer for check-in and security.
Cruise
From which terminal does your ship depart in Hamburg?
Hamburg has three cruise terminals, and which one is right for you depends solely on your cruise line and your ship. You can find this information on your travel documents. The large ships from AIDA and MSC usually depart from Steinwerder, the largest terminal in the working port.
The new Cruise Center HafenCity in the Westfield Überseequartier is located in the city center and is called at by many cruise lines that start centrally and close to the Elbphilharmonie. The Cruise Center Altona at Dockland receives ships from AIDA and Costa, among others, and is located a little closer to the western city center.
For you, one thing is particularly important: you don’t have to figure out the way yourself. You tell us your terminal when booking, and we will take you exactly there with the shuttle, on time for check-in and with all your luggage.
Long-term parking
Is long-term parking worth it instead of a taxi or train?
Many people consider before a long trip whether to take a taxi to the airport or simply leave their car. For a few days, a taxi might be suitable, but for a family with a lot of luggage or a two-week trip, the costs for the round trip quickly add up, and you are dependent on schedules and availability.
With a fixed parking space with us, you are completely flexible with your time. You leave when it suits you, even early in the morning or late at night, and upon your return, you immediately get to your own car instead of waiting at a taxi stand or train platform.
Because our daily rate decreases with duration, this long-term option becomes particularly affordable with us. For holidaymakers and cruise guests, this is in most cases the most relaxed and ultimately the cheapest solution.
Return process
How does the pickup work after your return?
When you land back in Hamburg, please call us briefly as soon as you have your luggage. Our driver will then know you have arrived and will come to the agreed meeting point. At the airport, this is the arrivals level at Terminal 1, at Exit C.
From there, we will take you back to our parking garage, where your car will be ready. If you have booked a vehicle service, your car will be washed, detailed, or charged, depending on what you chose. You get in and drive straight home.
The same simple process applies to the cruise terminals. You tell us when your ship docks, and we will be there. This way, your journey ends just as relaxed as it began with us.

Hamburg Airport at a glance
If you’re looking for affordable parking at Hamburg Airport, we offer a parking facility with shuttle service that costs significantly less than the parking garages directly at the terminal, while still being covered, guarded, and accessible at all times.
Hamburg Airport (HAM) in Fuhlsbüttel is the fifth-largest airport in Germany. Over 50 airlines depart from here via two terminals, which are connected by the Airport Plaza with check-in counters, shops, and security control. Terminal 1 is mainly used by Eurowings, Condor, and many holiday airlines, while Terminal 2 is used by Lufthansa and its partners, among others. Check your terminal on your boarding pass on the day of travel; our driver will drop you off directly in front of it.
For flights within Europe, we recommend being at the terminal about two hours before departure, and three hours for long-haul flights. Allow about 15 minutes for the shuttle ride and a few minutes for parking with us. This way, you arrive relaxed without having to search for an expensive space at the airport itself.
